Hamoon Babachahi

Interim College Director, Fraser International College

Hamoon Babachahi is the Interim College Director of Fraser International College (FIC) on the Burnaby Campus of Simon Fraser University, responsible for day-to-day college operations, and overall leadership and management of college staff.

Previously, FIC’s Associate Director (Students), he first joined Navitas in 2013 as a Student Support Officer and since 2016, progressed into different roles in student affairs with experience ranging in recruitment, admissions, advising, student development and wellness. With a strong commitment to student success, Hamoon has dedicated his career to student affairs with experience ranging in recruitment, admissions, advising, student development and wellness. His experience in these areas has allowed him to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students by guiding them through their educational journeys. He possesses specialized training in mental first aid and the Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview, which underscores his dedication to holistic student well-being.

Born in Iran and raised in United Arab Emirates, Hamoon’s international upbringing has contributed to his unique perspective on education and student support. He is a graduate of FIC and Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. He has served as a board member of the Transition and Orientation Professionals of British Columbia (TOPBC) and presented at the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) and the First-Year Experience conferences. He currently resides with his wife in Vancouver, British Columbia.
